What AI search optimisation in Waterford means
I'm Fionn Murphy. I run FMOps from Waterford, so this is my own county. AI search optimisation in Waterford is the work of making sure ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews can identify your business and name it when somebody nearby asks for the best in your trade. Not "the best plumber" in the abstract. "Best physio in Waterford". "Good dentist near Ardkeen". "Where do I get a boiler serviced in Tramore." Those questions get one answer with two or three business names in it, and most owners never see it.
It is a short drive to any client here, so I can call in. Most of the work is done at a desk, but the first meeting is easier face to face.
Who this fits in Waterford
Waterford has two kinds of buyer for this, and they are not the same.
The first is the local service business where one new customer is worth hundreds or thousands: physios and clinics around Ardkeen and the Cork Road, dentists in the city, solicitors and accountants off the Quays, and the trades working across the city, Tramore, Dunmore East and out west. If somebody asks an assistant for a recommendation and gets two names, being one of them is worth real money.
The second is tourism and hospitality. People planning a Copper Coast drive, a run on the Waterford Greenway or a weekend in Dungarvan or Lismore now ask an assistant to plan it. The assistant answers with specific places to eat, stay and hire bikes. That answer is a recommendation, and it is made without anyone opening a search results page.
One precondition, plainly: a verified Google Business Profile and honest local reviews come first. They are the largest single input to what an assistant recommends. If you do not have them, that is the first month's work, and I will say so on the call rather than sell you a retainer you are not ready for. Not sure where to start? See set up your Google Business Profile.
Illustrative example: a Tramore physio
This is an illustrative example, not a client. A physio clinic in Tramore wants more first appointments.
The questions a real customer types are narrow: "best physio in Tramore", "sports physio near Waterford for a running injury", "physio Tramore open Saturday". When an assistant answers, it is reading a small set of things: the Google Business Profile (name, category, hours, address, whether it is verified), the review text and how recent it is, the clinic's own pages, and whatever third-party pages mention the clinic — directories, a club sponsorship page, a local news mention.
What usually goes wrong is dull. The profile category is "Medical clinic" instead of "Physiotherapist". Hours are stale. The site has one "Services" page listing eight things in a row, so nothing on it clearly answers "running injury" or "Saturday". The word Tramore appears once, in the footer.
What changes: the profile is corrected and kept current, honest reviews are asked for after appointments, and the site gets a page per real reason people ring — running injuries, back pain, post-surgery rehab — each one saying plainly where the clinic is and when it opens. Then the same questions are re-run every month and logged. I will not tell you what the numbers will be. I will tell you what they are.
The AI visibility audit for Waterford: what I check
The free check is run by hand. You get the screenshots and the counts, whether or not you go any further.
What ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI actually say
A fixed set of buying-intent questions for your trade and town, run repeatedly, with screenshots and dates.
Who they name instead
The competitors that come up, and the sources the assistants cite for them.
Your Google Business Profile
Verification, category, name, address, phone, hours, services and photos — the single biggest input to a local recommendation.
Your reviews
How many, how recent, and whether the text mentions what you actually do and where.
Your website
Whether there is a readable page for each real reason someone contacts you, and whether the facts are in text rather than in images or PDFs.
Your entity data
Whether the same business name, address and phone number appear consistently everywhere, and whether the site carries correct structured data.
Third-party mentions
Directories, local press, suppliers and associations — the pages assistants already trust.

I'm Fionn Murphy. FMOps is me. I run the check, I do the groundwork, I write the pages and I record the monthly video. You talk to the person doing the work.
I take one business per trade per town, so I am not optimising two competitors against each other. If it is not a fit, I will tell you on the call.

Questions
Do you visit businesses in Waterford?
Yes. I'm based in Waterford city, so the first meeting can be in person anywhere in the county — city, Tramore, Dungarvan, Lismore. After that most of the work is done remotely and reported by video.
How much does AI search optimisation cost in Waterford?
The first check is free. Retainers run from €750 a month to €2,000 a month, with a capped scope agreed in writing before we start. The price does not change because you are in Waterford rather than Dublin.
Do you work with businesses outside Waterford?
Yes. I work across Ireland remotely, and I have county pages for Kilkenny, Wexford, Carlow, Tipperary and Cork. I take one business per trade per town.
Is this the same as SEO?
It overlaps. Traditional SEO aims at Google's blue links. This aims at the answer an assistant gives when somebody asks it to recommend a business. The groundwork is related; what gets measured is different.
Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend my business?
No. The models change their answers and anyone guaranteeing otherwise is guessing. What I guarantee is that you see the same questions re-run every month, with screenshots, and that I tell you why the answer moved.
Find out what it says about you.
The check is free and takes me about an hour by hand. You get the screenshots either way.
