How much does GEO cost in Ireland? 2026 prices

How much does GEO cost in Ireland in 2026? A one-off audit runs roughly €300 to €1,500. My own retainers are €750 to €2,000 a month with a capped scope. Irish agencies typically charge €1,500 to €5,000 a month, and enterprise programmes run far higher. Doing it yourself costs nothing but time. This guide explains what sits inside each price so you can tell a fair quote from a padded one.

Bar chart of Irish GEO price routes: do it yourself at zero, a one-off audit at €300 to €1,500, FMOps retainers €750 to €2,000 a month, Irish agency retainers €1,500 to €5,000, and enterprise programmes far higher.
Bars show the midpoint of each published band.

GEO means generative engine optimisation: the work of getting your business named and described correctly when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity for a recommendation. It is also sold as AI SEO or AEO. If the acronyms are new, start with what AI search visibility actually is and AI SEO vs GEO vs AEO explained.

What are you actually paying for?

Strip the jargon and GEO is five jobs. Every honest quote is some mix of them.

  • Audit. Ask the assistants the questions your customers ask, record what they say about you and your competitors, and find why you are missing or described wrongly.
  • Entity and profile fixes. Google Business Profile, consistent name, address and phone, structured data, a clear services page per thing you sell. This is where most Irish SMEs gain the most, fastest.
  • Content. Pages that answer the buying question directly, in the language a customer uses, with the facts an assistant can lift: prices, locations, eligibility, process.
  • Citations and third-party mentions. Directories, listicles, trade bodies, local press. Assistants repeat what other sources say about you.
  • Measurement. A monthly scoreboard: which prompts mention you, in what position, with what description, and how that moved.

If a proposal cannot say which of those five your money buys this month, it is not a plan.

What are the price bands in Ireland?

DIY: €0 plus time

Claim and complete your Google Business Profile, collect honest reviews, write the three pages that answer your top buying questions, and check the assistants monthly by hand. A focused owner can do a lot of this in a few weekends. Use the free AI visibility check to see where you stand before you spend anything, and check whether AI recommends your business yourself. The tactics are in how to get recommended by ChatGPT in Ireland.

One-off audit: roughly €300 to €1,500

The productised end of the market. As a real example, the Dublin agency BeaconSites lists a founder-led AI visibility audit from €299, delivering a snapshot report and a findings call. Prices climb toward €1,500 as the prompt set widens, competitors are benchmarked, and you get a prioritised fix list rather than a score. For a like-for-like comparison of what different providers include, see AI visibility audit services in Ireland.

An audit is the right first purchase for most small businesses. It is cheap, it is finite, and it tells you whether you have a content problem, a citation problem or a reviews problem before you commit to monthly fees.

FMOps retainers: €750 to €2,000 a month

My AI visibility audit Ireland service runs as a capped-scope monthly retainer. €750 suits a single-location service business: profile and entity work, one or two pages a month, citation building, and a monthly scoreboard. €2,000 suits several locations or several service lines, with more content and more competitor tracking. One person does the work, so there is no account-management layer in the price. Month to month, no lock-in.

Irish agency retainers: €1,500 to €5,000+ a month

A team-delivered programme: strategist, writers, technical SEO, reporting, an account manager. You pay for capacity and coverage. For a multi-location business or one in a genuinely contested category, that capacity is worth having. For a five-person firm in one town, it usually is not.

Enterprise programmes: up to €50,000 a month

National brands, thousands of tracked prompts, custom monitoring platforms, PR budget attached. It is a different product with the same name. Ignore the headline numbers you see in global guides; they are quoting this band.

What changes the price?

  • Locations. One town is one profile and one set of local citations. Six counties multiplies the fixes and the tracking.
  • Competition. An empty category needs a fraction of the content of a crowded one.
  • Content volume. Writing is the largest recurring cost in any GEO retainer. Four pages a month costs more than one, and if you write the drafts yourself, it costs less again.
  • Reviews baseline. A business with no Google reviews has a cheap, high-impact fix in front of it. A business with a poor rating has a slower and more expensive road.
  • Site condition. If the site is slow, thin or has no service pages, some of the budget goes on fixing the website before any AI work pays off.
  • Reporting depth. Tracking 20 prompts by hand is cheap. Tracking 500 across five assistants needs tooling, and the tooling is billed to you.

What does a fair GEO contract look like?

  • Month to month, or a three-month initial term at most. Twelve-month lock-ins on a young discipline are a transfer of risk to you.
  • A named scope. Pages per month, prompts tracked, citations targeted. Numbers, not adjectives.
  • A scoreboard you own. The prompt set, the baseline and the monthly readings, in a document you keep if you leave.
  • No guarantees. Nobody controls what a language model answers. "Rank #1 in ChatGPT" is not a deliverable. Improved mention rate on a defined prompt set is.
  • Your accounts stay yours. Profiles, analytics, the website. No agency-owned assets holding you in place.
  • An exit that leaves value behind. Pages, profiles and citations should still be working for you six months after you stop paying.

How does GEO cost compare to SEO?

The bands look similar, because much of the work is the same work. Clear pages, correct structured data, a strong Google Business Profile and honest reviews help you in both Google and ChatGPT. The differences are at the edges: GEO tracks prompts instead of keyword positions, leans harder on third-party mentions, and cares more about whether your prices and eligibility rules are stated in plain text on your own site.

Practically, if you are already paying for SEO, you should not be paying a second full retainer for GEO. Ask your current supplier to add prompt tracking and entity work to the existing scope, and compare that quote to a standalone one.

Can a grant cover any of it?

Partly, and with caution. The Grow Digital Voucher covers 50% of eligible digitalisation costs up to €5,000, and its cost list names analytics software including AI systems, plus training and configuration. A marketing retainer is a poor fit; tooling and training may fit. The detail, and the honest limits, are in the Grow Digital Voucher for AI guide.

Frequently asked questions

How much does GEO cost in Ireland?

A one-off AI visibility audit runs roughly €300 to €1,500. Monthly retainers start around €750 for a single-location small business and run to €2,000 with FMOps, €1,500 to €5,000 or more with an Irish agency, and far higher for enterprise programmes. Doing the basics yourself costs time rather than money.

What does an AI visibility audit cost?

Around €300 to €1,500 in the Irish market in 2026. The Dublin agency BeaconSites lists a founder-led audit from €299 as one real market example. The price rises with the number of prompts tested, the number of competitors benchmarked, and whether you get a prioritised fix list rather than just a score.

Is AI SEO cost in Ireland different from ordinary SEO cost?

The price bands are similar because much of the work overlaps: clear pages, structured data, Google Business Profile and reviews. GEO adds prompt tracking across assistants and leans harder on third-party mentions. If you already pay for SEO, ask your supplier to extend the existing scope rather than buying a second retainer.

Can anyone guarantee my business ranks first in ChatGPT?

No. Nobody controls what a language model answers, and answers vary between users and sessions. A fair deliverable is an improved mention rate on a defined set of prompts, measured monthly against a baseline you keep. Treat a guarantee of position as a reason to walk away.

How long before GEO work shows results?

Profile and entity fixes can show up in assistant answers within weeks. Content and citation work usually takes two to three months to move a prompt set, and longer in a crowded category. Anyone promising a change in days is selling the wrong thing.

Should a small business start with an audit or a retainer?

Start with an audit, or the free check. It is finite and cheap, and it tells you whether your problem is content, citations or reviews. Only buy a retainer once you know which of those you are paying to fix.
